-=-=-=-=-=> Calgary Chinese Community Breast Cancer Awareness Project Part time Health Project Coordinator Job Description POSITION SUMMARY This is a 0.6 PTE Project Coordinator position and the coordinator will be responsible for planning and implementing key initiatives to increase awareness and access to services for breast health/cancer in the Chinese community. PRIME FUNCTIONS Coordinator, Public Education and Information •Liaise with partner organizations to develop strategies for bridging and supporting members from the Chinese community to better access services •Research, compile and/or translate relevant information on breast health/cancer •Coordinate strategies to increase community education on breast health and early detection of breast cancer such as newspaper articles, radio programs •Organize and promote monthly Community Education Workshops and mammogram testing in the Chinese Community •Identify and engage in opportunities to promote breast health/cancer awareness in the Chinese community •Run support groups for breast cancer patients Volunteer Engagement •Develop strategies to identify and recruit appropriate volunteers from the Chinese community •Develop, implement and evaluate volunteer training •Provide guidance and support for volunteers to implement community education projects pertaining to breast health/cancer awareness •Identify volunteer opportunities in partner organizations, encourage volunteer participation and promote active participation in broad community events related to increasing the awareness of breast cancer •Match clients in need with appropriate volunteers Administrative •Document project progress, key learnings and skill development of volunteers •Compile relevant data and statistical information as required for evaluation purposes •Maintain organized files and resource compilation for future agency reference •Supervise and provide guidance to project staff MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS •Post secondary degree or equivalent health or medical related fields, Social Work or social science field •Minimum 3 years work experience in human service field TERMS & CONDITIONS •22.5 hours per week •Require to work some evenings and weekends •Starting date will be end of August SKILLS REQUIRED •Fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin - both verbal and written skills •Have good facilitation skills •A good team player •Experience in project coordination and organizing large public events •Strong communication and facilitation skills •Self motivated and takes initiative •Ability to conduct meetings and experience in public speaking Please forward resumes and cover letters by mail, fax or email before May 31 to: Lily Kwok Calgary Chinese Community Service Association 1, 128 – 2nd Avenue SW Calgary, AB T2P 0B9 Email: cccsa@cccsa.ca Fax: (403) 233-0070 Thank you for your interest. JOB POSTING Part time Integration & Civic Engagement Coordinator POSITION SUMMARY: This is a 0.4 PTE Integration and Civic Engagement Coordinator position. The coordinator is responsible for building capacity of the members of Chinese community by building self-reliance, independence, and confidence skills while promoting and encouraging activism in the community through positive civic engagement.
