Children & Youth Coordinator Job Posting
The Children and Youth Coordinator’s role is to ensure that agency programming for children and youth is of a high quality, is responsive to the needs of the community and is in keeping with agency’s mandate.
The Children and Youth Coordinator’s role is to ensure that agency programming for children and youth is of a high quality, is responsive to the needs of the community and is in keeping with agency’s mandate.
Prime Functions and Responsibilities:
-Develop and implement training and empowerment programs for youth volunteers and guide them in youth initiated projects -Train youth volunteers to be mentors as well as provide guidance, support to them -for the after school tutorial programs -Coordinate the Afterschool tutorial programs -Liaise with other Calgary agencies, schools and services to keep up to date on children and youth resources and to develop programming partnerships -Deliver Life Skills Training in different schools -Develop, coordinate and promote creative programs for identified target Children & Youth populations -Organize public workshops and information sessions pertaining to children and youth issues -Evaluate programs in consultation with the Executive Director and summarize feedback on a regular basis -Collaborate with other CCCSA staff on projects that relate to children and youth -Maintain documentation on children and youth programs and prepare monthly statistical and narrative reports on the programs and the Coordinator’s activities -Manage the budget allotted to children and youth programs -Keep current on trends in demographics, immigration, societal and city issues pertaining to Children and Youth issues through reading and meeting with appropriate resource people, and research -General office duties as needed
Qualifications:
Post Secondary degree or equivalent in Social Work, Education, Social Sciences or related field. 2-3 years of working experience Knowledge of different community resources Understanding of the education system Group facilitation skills and ability to run activities for youth Written, communication and presentation skills Computer skills Must be fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin An awareness and understanding of child & youth development and pertinent community issues First Aid Excellent interpersonal skills, self starter, good organizational skills and team player Program coordination and evaluation
